根本敬画業40周年特別企画展「愛のあるユニークで豊かな東京」
混沌に満ちたエロと不条理の世界を描く根本敬氏は、1981年「月刊漫画ガロ」で漫画家デビュー。雑誌媒体が隆盛を極めた80年代を出発点に、漫画のみならず、旅行記や音楽、フィールドワークより「特殊漫画家」としての軌跡を残し、2021年、画業４０周年を迎える。
根本敬画業40周年特別企画展「愛のあるユニークで豊かな東京」は、
2021年7月22日〜8月9日まで小宮山書店にて開催。
【根本敬】1958年東京生まれ。1981年『月刊漫画ガロ』で漫画家デビュー。漫画、文章、小説、映像の分野で表現活動を行う傍ら、近年は絵画制作も精力的に取り組む。デビューから現在に至るまでジャンルにとらわれない「特殊漫画家」の道を拓く。過去に1995年「909 / アノーマリー2」展（レントゲン藝術研究所）や1999年「時代の体温 ART / DOMESTIC」展（世田谷美術館）、2014年南フランス「HETA-UMA」展などに参加。2017年には「鉄工島フェス」でゲルニカサイズの大作『樹海』を発表するなどの幅広くアート活動を展開。また継続した活動では、幻の名盤解放同盟のメンバーとして埋もれたアナログレコードのCD化、マルセイユの出版社「ル・デルニエ・クリ」よりポスター作品の発表、渋谷アップリンクにて20年間に及ぶ映像夜間中学の開催、定期的なDJやミックスCDリリースなどがある。現在、出版社「東京キララ社」の特殊顧問や神保町美学校にて「特殊漫画家-前衛の道」の講師も務める。

Born in 1958. Debuts as a manga artist in alternative-comic magazine “GARO” in 1981. As well as publishing Manga in several magazines from the 80s, his artistic career varies from essay, novel, film to painting. Much of his work is often contextualized in the “Ero-guro” culture, the artistic genre in Japanese subculture which depicts grotesque, horror imagery with eroticism and nonsense. He’s been focusing on fine arts in recent decades, the most notable being “Ju-Kai,”a painting as big as Picasso’s Guernica. For ongoing works, he has been releasing music as a member of 幻の名盤解放同盟（Illusion of Great Records Liberation League: group who reissue out of print records), teaching at "the night school of film” at UPLINK Shibuya for 20 years, teaching “Unique Manga: avant-garde path” course at the Art school Bigakko. With his unique and various artistic works throughout 40 years, he pioneered his own profession, what he calls “Tokushu Manga-ka" (Unique Manga Artist) who penetrates the underground manga taste on different mediums as an artist.
